Who are we?
The National Integrative Research Conference (NiRC) is an initiative of McGill's Bachelors of Arts and Sciences Integrative Council (BASiC). Started in 2011, it aims to promote undergraduate research in interdisciplinary fields across Canada by providing an environment in which students can present their topics and interact with other speakers.
More specifically, this conference was created to encourage students to transcend the conventional boundaries of Arts and Sciences by introducing innovative perspectives and ground-breaking approaches to the traditional fields of studies. By doing so, NiRC hopes that new paths of knowledge will emerge and be explored by the academic community as a whole. Above all, this event aims to give interdisciplinary researchers a forum to voice their intellectual passions in an environment that is facilitative to the expression, reception, and discussion of their ideas.
NiRC brings together students with different fields of study from Montreal to Vancouver, as well as keynote speakers from various fields. The conference is organized by a planning committee of 8 individuals and staffed by countless student volunteers from McGill University. After a positive start, NIRC 2012 aspires to build on experience from the previous conference and to bring in an imaginative, interesting and fun conference for both the speakers and the public!
The NIRC experience
Our planning committee and volunteers will be there to make this experience a memorable one from the opening keynote speaker to the post-conference wine and cheese. Lunch and refreshments will be provided at the conference. If you have any questions or wish to know more information about the conference, application procedures or lodging in Montreal, please do not hesitate contact our co-chairs at chair@nircmcgill.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
